Competitive Teams
The competitive team is for students who love to dance, and would like to showcase their talents at local competitions. Auditions for the competitive team are held in August after “Boot Camp”. Each team member is required to attend full camp experience, participate in all competitions, 2010 performances, and all choreography weekends. (See schedule for more information)
We have three competitive teams. Teams are broken down by levels of proficiency and all require auditions for placements.
1. Incredibles: Compete in jazz and ballet
2. Amazings: Compete in lyrical and special groups
3. Jr. Elites: Compete in lyrical, jazz, and special groups
4. Elites: Compete in lyrical, jazz and special groups
Competitive Team Rehearsal and Mandatory Requirements
Competitive team is a year-long commitment; there are NO drops and NO refunds! Any student that drops from the team after October 1, 2010 their parent/guardian will be held financially responsible for any and all remaining costs to the competitive season as well as subject to a $300.00 penalty fee.
We ask that each student and parent understand the level of commitment that is involved with being a member of the team and understand their obligation to Inspirations Dance Studio and Inspirations Dance Studio Competitive Team before auditioning.
Auditions
Auditions are held on the last day of “Boot Camp”, all students must audition and are placed in their groups based on age, level of experience, and level of technique.
Camp/ Workshop
All competitors must attend “Boot Camp”, held in the summer to be considered for the competitive team, if you are unable to attend camp due to scheduling conflicts there is a fall workshop held in November that students can attend instead per approval of Studio director. Students who attended “Boot Camp” can attend the Fall workshop at a discounted rate.
Rehearsals
Competitive Team Rehearsals are mandatory, students are allotted 4 excused absences, beyond 4 they must schedule a private lesson with an instructor, or they might be asked to not compete.
Choreography weekends in October are mandatory; please hold those dates open, a detailed schedule will be available closer to those dates. Not attending Choreography weekends will result in that student being asked to leave the competitive team.
All students must attend the rehearsal prior to competition; any student that is absent will be asked not to compete at that competition.
